My God is Faithful

Faithful according to Webster's Dictionary means steadfast in affection or allegiance, loyal, firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duties.

While I was doing my reading in the Old Testament this week many verses jumped out at me and they all pointed and reminded me about God's faithfulness. For example in Deuteronomy 7:9-10 "Therefore know that the Lord your God, he is God. The faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments...." Also in Deuteronomy 4: 29-31 "...and you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul. When you are in distress and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the Lord your God and obey his voice (for the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them."

This was made evident in my life this week as I received five new piano/violin students. To give you a little background, we surprised my in-laws with a vacation for their forty years of marriage. As part of the surprise, it was going to be a family vacation for everyone. (My mother-in law has been wanting to do something together for a while now). However since I stay at home, finances for a big family vacation put a lot of pressure on us. We have been saving for a year to try and get everything we would need. The trip is supposed to be at the end of April and I have been feeling the pressure. Once again God just reminded me that he is faithful in every way. While a vacation may seem like something unnecessary, God knew how much it meant to my mother-in-law and my family and he provided with a needed boost to our family income just in the nick of time! Praise God for his faithfulness!

After taking all of this into account, my Bible reading in Deuteronomy reminded me that I had a responsibility. "And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house when you walk by the way when you lie down and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:6-9 When God shows us his faithfulness don't hold it in...shout it from the rooftops, talk about it with your children....they need to know about a God that loves us and cares for us....they need to understand on whom we depend!
