For many of us this was the first song we ever learned. The song about how Jesus loves us. As we grow older and learn other worship songs, sometimes we leave this song behind us. We think it's reserved for only children. But it is in this song that we learn the biggest truth.
Ten years ago when I was in a church full of crying, heartbroken people, I heard Jesus Loves Me being sung by a soloist. It was there I felt the love of God pressed upon my spirit so much that it was palpable. I was at my father's funeral. This was before I started seeking God with all my heart. It was before I had ever accomplished anything for Him. This was when Jesus reminded me He loved me. That He was strong, when I felt so weak. There I sat in a church full of grief and heartache, yet felt God's love and peace.
I was reminded again over the weekend how Jesus still uses this song to reach out to us. No matter where we find ourselves we must remember the words of this song. It is a truth we have yet to fully grasp: Jesus' love for us!!!
